  • This is our 2nd car seat. Baby barfed in it on first use. A fluke? Maybe. It's a dream to install but I feel like the fabric doesn't breathe well and the baby often feels warm when I pull her out. Oct 29, 2014

  • Q: Has anyone used the NextFit Zip in hot weather? I am considering buying it for my LO to transition out of his carrier. I love the idea of easy removal of the cover for washing, but am concerned the zipper track and the surrounding edge of material will got hot to the touch versus the non-zip model.

  • Never gets all that hot here in San Francisco but I will say that I think the highly padded nature of this seat does cause it to run warm--I noticed that the back of my kid was often warm/sweaty when I pulled her out, even after relatively short rides. I wouldn't worry about the zipper per se but if you're in a very hot climate, you may want to consider a less cushy/padded seat.

  • I live in Florida, and I haven't even noticed if the zipper gets hot or not. The zipper has some threading on it, which I think would help reduce a direct touch, and the zipper is coated. The metal clasps on the belt do get hot, but I am usually able to get my daughter in the seat without her touching them.

  • I live in MD and it gets pretty hot here in the summer. I've not ever noticed the zipper getting hot; the metal clips get hot but not the zipper! DEFINTELY recommend this seat, it's worth it the first time they have an accident or spill the contents of a pouch all over!
