The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

  • Extremely easy to install but the fabric did pill around the foot area in under a year of use. Jul 03, 2020

  • The base is super easy to install and move between cars. Baby loves riding in it Jun 27, 2020

  • Although on the heavier side, I have really enjoyed this infant carseat! Easy to clean and very stylish. I used this up to 8 months and then switched to next carseat. Jun 24, 2020

  • Love this! The materials are great quality and it’s very easy to use. My husband installed the base in just a few minutes and the car seat is super easy to snap in and out Jun 23, 2020

  • Its high end price comes with the quality of the product and the excellent customer service. I am so happy with this infant seat, I was a little sad to part with it after my son grew out of it. Jun 22, 2020

  • The biggest reason I love this car seat (the “Henry”) is because it is free of flame retardant chemicals. It’s easy to remove the fabric and wash it. The seat clicks in so easy, and base is so easy. Jun 18, 2020

A very comfortable car seat for infants as they grow older as well. However we quickly switched to a convertible car seat because she looked stuffed in this one. Great for newborn/infant though Jun 16, 2020

  • WE LOVE THIS CARSEAT! Amazing quality and durability, and great color options. The base is extremely easy to install. My son looks so comfortable and safe in it. Worth every penny! Jun 15, 2020

  • Love this car seat. Baby fits in it nicely and love how easy it is to get in and out of my car. Jun 13, 2020

I love how easy it is to use and clean. The base was easy to install. The newborn insert is great! I do not love how difficult the harness can be. Overall I would recommend this. Jun 13, 2020

Very easy to install and use. Love that we can attach to Vista stroller very easily. Not too heavy for me either. Jun 12, 2020

  • So easy to use with the uppababy vista. However, I feel like this car seat causes chin to chest. Wish I got the pipa Jun 08, 2020

  • Easy to use (especially on the go with the Minu stroller base) and comfortable for the baby. She falls asleep every time! Jun 07, 2020

  • We absolutely loved this car seat. Best part is that you just just click it right into the UB vista stroller & no need to carry a heavy car seat with a rapidly growing baby! also no need to wake baby! May 22, 2020

  • My daughter isn’t a big fan & the price I paid for her to scream every time she sits in it & wish I would have purchased a cheaper onE. However its very pretty and looks nice May 19, 2020

  • We love our uppababy infant seat. Super light. Easy click in and out. Has two pockets to set the harness in while you put baby in the seat. Has a button to loose the straps for easy in and out. Love. May 18, 2020

  • I love our Mesa. It was the nicest infant seat I found after looking at what seemed like hundreds. I love how much padding there is and how adjustable it is. Works great with the travel system too! May 10, 2020

Everyone
  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

    The Car Seat Lady . - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

    Cheryl A. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
