The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

  • Super easy to transfer from stroller to car. We used it pretty exclusively for early stroller walks, and I even used it with the stroller to go grocery shopping. Plus the materials are high quality Mar 15, 2024

  • Absolutely love this car seat! The base is so easy and quick to install! No pulling on straps to tighten! Just push down or sit on it! Super comfy for baby and so easy to adjust! Mar 09, 2024

  • I don’t love nor do I regret my purchase. It’s easy to use with the travel system and has great features. However, I would go with a seat that reclines next time for baby’s comfort. Mar 06, 2024

I spent hours researching infant car seats. I ended up purchasing this seat because I could find adaptors for the stroller I already purchased. Its safe and easy to install but a little heavy! Feb 20, 2024

  • It's really heavy and bulky! Also, the canopy keeps coming off and its a hassle putting it back on. The only good thing about this is that it clicks in directly on the VISTA stroller! Feb 15, 2024

  • On baby number two! Feb 11, 2024

Great car seat! Easy to install and very nice with the uppababy vista stroller. Would recommend knowing how to adjust straps before trying to bring newborn home. Jan 17, 2024

  • Love this car seat. Haven’t had any issue with it or my child in it. Totally recommend Jan 05, 2024

  • Feels VERY sturdy and durable. My baby sits in it perfectly - from infant all the way to 1 yrs old. We are still using! Love the merino wool and the fire retardant free fabric. Dec 15, 2023

  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
