The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

  • I love the MESA car seat because of it is easy to install and use, lightweight and durable. The price of this car seat is worth every penny. I highly recommend this to all expecting moms. Nov 28, 2020

  • A great, luxurious car seat. My child seems very comfortable in it. It is a tad bit heavy in my opinion, and hard to carry by the handle when the shade is down. But overall, very happy with it. Nov 27, 2020

  • I like the seat but the buckle is very hard to open. I guess it is good that my baby can’t finagle her way out! I like that it is easy to connect to the uppababy stroller, but it is heavy! Nov 26, 2020

  • If you have an uppababy stroller, this is a must. SO easy to click in and out of the stroller and the car. Uses the LATCH system for the car, which was hard to install, but you only have to do it once Nov 23, 2020

  • So sturdy incredibly easy to install, so we don’t feel the need for multiple bases. The nurse in the hospital commented how nice it was as she inspected it. Highly recommend Nov 21, 2020

  • Fits perfectly with my Uppababy Cruz stroller without any extra parts. I feel that it is safe for baby and extremely well made. Oct 25, 2020

  • Super easy system. Pretty light. Very nice looking as well. All the adjustments are super easy to make. Love that the headrest adjusts so easily for my fast growing tall baby Oct 23, 2020

  • I love the size and safety of this carseat - and that it shows you easily and clearly when it is positioned correctly! Also love the Jordan no chemical flame resistant cloth!!! AMAZING Oct 22, 2020

  • Feels safe and secure. We had a smaller baby than usual, so the infant padding was helpful! Oct 18, 2020

  • Super comfortable and was amazing protecting my baby in the car accident. I even bought another one until he grew out of it. Oct 17, 2020

  • Very easy to install. Not the lightest car seat. Oct 04, 2020

  • Love this seat! Comfortable, medium weight, and love the no-Re thread harness! This seat has a higher end weight limit which is nice! I always felt like my babe was snug and safe! Sep 25, 2020

No complaints here. Have the UPPAbaby vista stroller & love how easy it is to take from car to stroller. Love the separate base that it attaches to. Have multiple bases for multiple cars. Sep 20, 2020

  • Pairs perfectly with my uppababy stroller. Taking it on/off the base is extremely easy Aug 31, 2020

The Mesa is top notch when it comes to safety ratings which was top priority for us. Installation using Latch required some muscle but is manageable. Sunshade could be bigger. Still love the seat! Aug 25, 2020

  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

    The Car Seat Lady . - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

    Cheryl A. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
