The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

An investment piece, it snaps easily onto Vista or Cruz by Uppababy with one hand! Easy to install in car with or without base (comes with base). Nov 16, 2019

  • Great car seat. Love the one click in and out of the stroller. Easy base install. Bonus can’t safely travel with just seatbelt install. Not too heavy. Love the no retread harness! Nov 15, 2019

  • expensive, but after doing the research it was one of the best in regards to safety. I love that it attaches to my vista stroller as well. Nov 11, 2019

LO really took to this infant seat. He almost always falls asleep when riding in this! Nov 08, 2019

  • Love the car seat! I had the Pipa and this one and the Uppababy Mesa was the best by far! IF you have the Uppababy Cruz or Vista, it is compatible and it had great head support for the little one. Oct 31, 2019

  • LOVE! It fits right into the uppababy vista stroller and we love it! If you’re looking for a great infant car seat look no further! This one is the best! Oct 29, 2019

Pricey car seat, but very well made. Love the merino wool padding, sunshade, and its easy to adjust the straps and headrest. I have washed the padding multiple times and it’s still holding up! Oct 26, 2019

  • Ours came as a set. I absolutely love our products. The only downfall is it is so heavy. Oct 26, 2019

  • Love how well this works with the Uppababy stroller but i feel like its SUPER tiny compared to other infant strollers. My baby is 5mo and already smushed in it. Oct 22, 2019

  • I regret buying this because it’s a very heavy car seat and add a 20 pound baby and good luck then. I’m literally carrying my son while having to struggle so much even when he was only 6 pounds. Oct 21, 2019

  • Love this car seat because it clips in to our UppaBaby Vista stroller. Only con is that it is pretty heavy. Oct 18, 2019

  • I liked it. My son grew out of it faster than I would of liked. It was pretty easy to clean the couple times we needed to thoroughly clean it. It did get heavy but I believe all infant carriers do Oct 18, 2019

  • This wasn’t my favorite infant seat. The canopy leaves a lot to be desired as far as coverage and the seat is on the heavy side. Oct 04, 2019

This is a great need for your newborn that you want to bring from the hospital. It’s very easy to click into the car and when they are sleeping you don’t have to move them. Oct 04, 2019

  • Both my boys were chuncky babies and never loved being in this seat. Lots crying with limited naps. My nephew is on the smaller side & loved the seat. Used for 19 months. We switched to a convertible Sep 30, 2019

I absolutely love this car seat! It's beautiful (Henry color) and is so easy to take apart and throw in the laundry. It is a must if you have the Vista. We Uber with this car seat all the time! Sep 24, 2019

  • This carseat is amazing. It is a bit pricey, but you can tell just by looking at the seat that it is made from high end materials. Super plush and easy to take apart/put back together for cleaning. Sep 20, 2019

  • Great car seat!! Love that it fits in my uppababy vista stroller, it makes it super convenient. Easy to install and I feel that it’s been very safe for us so far! Sep 17, 2019

Everyone
  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

    The Car Seat Lady . - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

    Cheryl A. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
