The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

  • This car seat is super easy to use with the stroller. My baby is very snug in it. The base is extremely easy to latch into the car. The carrier is slightly heavier than others on the market. Mar 20, 2020

  • Love this carseat. Works well for our baby that came early and only weighed 4lbs 13oz when leaving hospital. Even the nurses that did an oxygen check for baby while in it commented on how nice it . Mar 05, 2020

  • Sleek design, safety Mar 02, 2020

Love the Mesa! Easy to carry and snap into the car or onto our Vista stroller. Our baby loves it and falls asleep easily! We have it in the Henry color, which is naturally flame retardant wool. Mar 01, 2020

  • It super easy to install and use on a daily basis. I love that it can fit seamlessly onto our stroller and is easy to clean when your baby has a blowout. Feb 27, 2020

  • On the lighter side Feb 26, 2020

  • Love how secure my LO is in this seat. It is Easy to attach and unattach from the stroller system Feb 25, 2020

  • This is a great infant car seat. I’ve used this product from birth with my 6lb baby with no issues. It came with an infant insert for use with babies that weigh under 8 lbs. A+ rear facing car seat Feb 23, 2020

  • this Car seat definitely worked well for us and was super simple to use my only complaint would be that if your baby’s thighs are chubby it may be a bit snug around their legs at the bottom buckle. Feb 20, 2020

  • I really love the car seat. I feel like my baby is safety secured. It’s so easy to click in and out and pop right into the Cruz stroller. Kinda pricy. Very sturdy. I think weight is fine but check it. Feb 19, 2020

  • I love this car seat so much! I was hesitant at first due to the price, but it has exceeded all expectations. I love that it connects to the Uppbaby Cruz stroller without and adapter! Feb 14, 2020

  • Can’t say enough good things about this car seat! Even small details like the stroller release button on the top handle just makes your life a little easier! Using with my brand new Vista V2 stroller! Feb 11, 2020

Unfortunately had to return this car seat after putting my son in it as he didn’t sit well no matter how much I adjusted him. Feb 04, 2020

  • The car seat is on the heavier side and was daunting to use when our baby was born. However, we have the Cruz (which we love) and it attaches seamlessly to that so would say this is a good purchase. Jan 31, 2020

  • Great car seat ! I feel very comfortable using this car seat for my first baby. It’s super sturdy, easy to use, and comfy for my son. The mechanism to latch the base into the car is simple to use! Jan 30, 2020

  • Super easy to install! Great for on the go. A little heavy but still great purchase. Jan 30, 2020

  • This is a great, easy to use bucket seat. Its also easy to clean which is important to me. Both of my babies enjoyed this seat. Jan 30, 2020

  • Loved it for the first few minths of baby's life, then she outgrew it super quick! Jan 29, 2020

Doesn't overheat and is lightweight. Worked great on the airplane as we got our baby his own seat and had him in the car seat. No fussing and stayed asleep the entire time! Jan 29, 2020

  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

    The Car Seat Lady . - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

    Cheryl A. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
