The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

  • Had two for our twins. Used from day one with 5lbs babies and was perfectly easy to get in and out and fits perfect in the stroller. Babies loved them and took great naps on car rides. Mar 03, 2021

  • We loved this infant carseat. Very easy to use, especially with the UppaBaby stroller system. The actual seat wasn't too heavy for us, so we found it easy to carry baby around in just the seat too. Feb 26, 2021

  • Top of the line like the rest of their products. My daughter loved this car seat. Safety is top standard, and the easy of installing is superior to all other brands. So easy. Get it quick! Feb 26, 2021

  • Absolutely love this car seat! My daughter and son both used this for the first year of their lives. It gave me peace of mind because it is very well built. We love how easily it fit into the stroller Feb 22, 2021

  • Safe and easy to use. Really these are the only requisites for a car seat! We have the Uppababy stroller so love the seamless transition between the two. Feb 16, 2021

  • Just purchased this for our daughter and it is amazing. So well made, easy to install and I love how comfy she is in the seat. She immediately falls asleep in the car. Feb 10, 2021

  • Love this carseat!!! Easy to use and keeps baby snugg and comfy. If you like to use car seat inserts, none are needed w/ this seat. Has everything you’ll need . Feb 09, 2021

  • I love how easy this is to install, it seems comfy and is safe. The canopy is pretty much worthless, it doesn’t block any sun and doesn’t even cover for rain. I like it, but it isn’t worth the price. Jan 31, 2021

  • Love this car seat. Extremely comfortable and more importantly, safe. Fits nicely on Vista stroller. Jan 19, 2021

  • I love everything UppaBaby! So happy we splurged a little and got it- definitely worth it! Jan 17, 2021

  • Love it very confortable for the baby and not to heavy Jan 14, 2021

  • Very comfortable, love that my daughter is very protected. She’s really small though and sometimes I feel like it’s difficult to strap her in good even with the infant insert. Jan 12, 2021

  • Easy to attach to uppababy stroller but downside it is a very heavy car seat. Jan 11, 2021

  • First issue was encountered upon dc from the hospital. Baby chin/chest angle was too narrow. She was 7lb 8 oz and 18in. I worried about her airway. It took many adjustments. The straps are not easy... Jan 09, 2021

  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

    Cheryl A. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
