The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

  • Being able to put this car seat on the stroller so easily was amazing when our son was a newborn. You can tell this is a quality product and will be great when we are ready for #2. Jan 16, 2019

  • Expensive and it already seems that my 8 month old is growing out of it height-wise Jan 12, 2019

I am neutral, I loved this car seat however it was too heavy by itself. Jan 08, 2019

  • Expensive but very highly rated for safety & comfort. The straps stash to the sides while putting baby in/out. The side impact protection around baby’s head adjusts. Can be installed without a base! Jan 06, 2019

  • We love the safety of this carseat, the ease of installation, and the style of the entire Uppababy line. Jan 03, 2019

  • I wish we would have gotten another brand. My 90 percentile son outgrew the height requirement at 5 MONTHS. We had to switch to a convertible way earlier that I would have liked Jan 02, 2019

  • So easy to install and move from car to car. Very light. Only part that I’m less than happy about is when you have the canopy up it’s hard to carry over arm Jan 02, 2019

  • The Mesa car seat is a must for parents with the Vista stroller. It clicks in easily and makes transitioning in and out of the car a total breeze. Jan 02, 2019

  • Bought to go with our Vista. It clips in and out easily. The fabric washes well. I wish it was compatible with other strollers! Jan 02, 2019

  • Easiest car seat to install ever! Love this! Went into labor early and my husband was able to install it very easily. Dec 28, 2018

Not the lightest car seat, but it's fairly easy to install. Dec 21, 2018

  • I don't love it or regret it. It was functional and very easy to use, however it seems to be on a small side and by 4 months old our daughter didn't enjoy it much and seemed pretty cramped. Dec 20, 2018

  • Love how easy this is to install the best! Dec 13, 2018

  • Love this car seat! It’s so easy to click it into the base or stroller and GO! The only thing I don’t like is the weight of the car seat Nov 29, 2018

  • The base is very easy to install. It's also easy to use without the base with just a seatbelt. We move this around between 3 different cars and it is very easy and quick to switch in and out. Nov 29, 2018

  • We loved the idea of this carseat since got the Vista stroller to match, easy to install and feels very padded; straps easy to adjust, however it's heavy & our baby will outgrow before shes 10 months Nov 08, 2018

  • We received a compliment on our car seat choice by our local car seat expert. When installing it, it has a helpful little pressure test to make sure it is installed correctly. Love it. Nov 05, 2018

  • Non-toxic, super safe, & easy to use. Oct 25, 2018

  • I purchased the MESA Henry because of its non toxic materials and was fairly satisfied. It seemed uncomfortable for our infant and was definitely heavy, but worth the lack of chemicals. Oct 22, 2018

  • Absolutely need this for your infant seat. It is so cozy and easy to adjust as our baby grows. The base is very easy to install correctly and switch if we need to. The fabric washes like a dream! Oct 22, 2018

  • I purchased this recently and love that the button to take the car seat out is on the handle vs the back of car seat like others. It’s a bit pricy but it’s features you’re paying for. Oct 20, 2018

  • Purchased this along with the Vista after returning Baby Jogger system. Materials are so soft and comfy and the adjustable settings are great. SO easy to install in car; on the heavy side though. Oct 16, 2018

  • Love this car seat and the fact that it can be moved from car to car without needing the base. The head support and belt straps are easily adjustable to accommodate your growing baby. Oct 15, 2018

Great car seat! Nice and lightweight, but very cozy for baby. Also, uppababy customer service can’t be beat! Oct 09, 2018

  • Really secure feeling car seat. I liked the newborn insert that kept baby snug until 8 pounds. Best if used with the stroller as it adapts directly on it making trips easy Sep 29, 2018

Everyone
  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

    The Car Seat Lady . - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

    Cheryl A. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
