The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

  • Love love love this car seat. So easy to put in vehicle. The base is light and so adjustable. Jan 18, 2020

  • This is an amazing car seat. Super easy to install correctly and feels very sturdy. Is very attractive and easy to clean. Jan 18, 2020

  • I LOVE this car seat! Not only is it so incredibly safe (even for babies all the way down to 4 lbs like my little guy) but it’s beautifully designed and a breeze to use with the stroller systems! Jan 16, 2020

  • Very safe car seat with easy click in and out of base. The fabric can be removed for washing. Jan 11, 2020

We have the Henry version which is merino wool and doesn't have any flame retardants - the main reason we bought it! But it is also so sturdy and isn't flimsy like some other seats I see. So worth it. Jan 11, 2020

  • Love that is clicks straight into my vista. The base is super easy to install. Wish the sunshade was a little longer. Jan 11, 2020

Love how easily is snaps into the car and into the Uppababy Cruz stroller, but my big baby boy is outgrowing it very, very quickly. The bulk isn't removable for easy growth. Jan 10, 2020

  • The Mesa is pretty light. With twins... that’s a bonus. Very easy to clean. Love using these with the UppaBaby Vista stroller. Jan 10, 2020

  • Base is easy to install. Convenient since you can click it into the stroller (Uppababy Vista). A downside is the carseat is heavy so it makes outing alone with the baby a bit difficult. Jan 10, 2020

My baby slept so well in this car seat - isn't that enough to love? Plus it was so easy to install, easy to attach to the Vista stroller, gorgeous, and very safe even in the teeny tiny stage. Jan 08, 2020

  • Perfect fit with UPPAbaby vista stroller, no attachments needed. Easy to use. Easy to clean, disassemble and wash, which is a huge plus. The infant insert was a must and the perfect seat for a preemie Jan 05, 2020

  • So easy to insert and remove! Love my uppababy. Only downside is the insert can not be washed inside of a washing machine. Dec 31, 2019

  • You get what you pay for! I have used bucket seats from Graco and Peg but this one is by far the best one. It is so quick and easy to install and so comfortable for baby! Dec 31, 2019

Best car seat ever. Wish I would have used for my older child Dec 29, 2019

  • The Uppababy travel system is awesome and this car seat moves seamlessly between the UPPAbaby vista and the infant base. I recommend getting a second base if you have a second car! Dec 16, 2019

Heavy car seat but super easy to use with a preemie and get a good fit. Padding is nice for newborn. Dec 03, 2019

  • Easy to install. Love the ease of use with the UppaBaby Vista stroller. Removing padding to wash a little confusing but videos are helpful. Dec 03, 2019

Easy to use & install, with red/green displays when level/locked in. Getting into/out of base is a cinch. Newborn insert was perfect early on. Used the car seat in the stroller a ton - an added bonus! Dec 01, 2019

An investment piece, it snaps easily onto Vista or Cruz by Uppababy with one hand! Easy to install in car with or without base (comes with base). Nov 16, 2019

  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

    The Car Seat Lady . - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
