The Mesa is (of course) incredibly compatible with the uber-popular Vista. Downside, though, is that it isn’t compatible with many other strollers. It’s tied with the Maxi Cosi Prezi and Orbit Infant for heaviest seat - weighing 12 pounds! Urban parents will like that the carrier installs well... but suburban parents will find that the base installation is often harder than you'd expect with LATCH, and often impossible with the seat belt due to an awkward geometry for the belt path and a seat belt locking device that lets the belt slip through.

Easy installation. One click and go. Natural fire resistant materials used. Adapts to fit stroller. Jul 18, 2019

  • I bought the Mesa after having the graco snugride and feeling like my little guy was flopping around. My babe is so secure in the mesa, it simply makes me feel that he is safe. All that matters! Jul 18, 2019

  • This is a must-have! My daughter loved this seat as an infant! It is very plush and moisture wicking- good for our Texas heat. Works seamlessly with the Cruz and was super easy to install w/o the base Jul 16, 2019

  • The shoulder straps seem too low for our child from early on. Perhaps she’s too tall for this. Overall satisfied with it but need to really pull hard on straps to secure them tight enough Jul 12, 2019

We were very happy with it. Super easy to install outside of base! Jul 11, 2019

Love everything about this car seat. It snaps so easily into the base and is easily installed. I do wish the height was a bit taller as my 9 month old has just outgrown it. Jul 09, 2019

Pros - this is a great travel system to work with the vista stroller, and it can be used without base when you are traveling. Cons - this car seat is crazy heavy!! Overall, I would recommend! Jul 05, 2019

  • I like how well this car seat works with the UppaBaby stroller and bas. I also like how sleek the design is. I do, however, feel that my baby will grow out of it pretty quickly. Jul 05, 2019

  • Great! Super comfy for the baby and the wool ones don't have added chemicals for fire retardant. The only thing I'm not fond of is the canopy. Jul 03, 2019

  • Have this in the color “Jake”. Absolutely love it! It’s nicely padded, and super convenient to have the strap holders in the side. Isn’t too heavy of a car seat. Love that it goes with my Vista! Jul 02, 2019

  • This is the best sit I have ever bought. Safety is the top of the list for me and this seat has everything you can ask for. My little girl is snug and comfy. Easy to take the cover off and wash too. Jul 02, 2019

Great car seat. Easy to use/clean. Our son grew out of it fairly quickly but we plan on using this again for our second. Jul 01, 2019

  • Completely worth it if you have an Uppababy stroller to go with it. Jun 29, 2019

  • Installing this into my car was super easy/quick thanks to the YouTube videos Uppa provides. Is lightweight and visually beautiful. It matches our Vista stroller perfectly! Jun 25, 2019

Sturdy, well known and has a good rep. It's easy to slide in and out of the car. Easy to attach LATCH. I feel very comfortable my baby is safe inside. Jun 19, 2019

  • Super easy to snap into the Vista stroller and into the car seat base. Didn’t love how there wasn’t a larger sun shield (you can buy one separately, the cabana, which I did, but it was a pain). Jun 18, 2019

  • We have been so happy with this carseat. It works great with the UppaBaby Mesa, and is very easy to use. We loved using it while traveling without the base and still felt very safe! Jun 18, 2019

  • This is a great, light car seat. Clicks in easily to the Uppababy strollers. Rated for 4lb and up so suitable for bringing a preemie home from the hospital! I have the wool fabric which is great! Jun 06, 2019

  • My baby loves her car seat! Love how easy it is to attach to uppababy strollers. Super convenient. Only downside is a little heavier than some other car seats we looked at. May 30, 2019

  • This car seat was great- it was easy to clean, secure, safe, and comfy for our daughter- however, it’s heavy. As she started to get heavier, it became very difficult to use as a carrier. May 17, 2019

  • The canopy is loud and stirs my son every time I open or close it (which happens a lot since you can't hold it on your arm with it fully open). I wouldn't get it again but it is a safe seat. May 14, 2019

  • Love how this infant car seat clips right into the stroller without an additional adapters! So easy to instal in car, and easy to clean! May 08, 2019

  • Q: How easy is it to use this car seat in taxis?

asked by Secretly Expecting - Dec 22, 2015

  • The 2014 model is VERY easy to use in taxis. But the 2015 model is slightly different and not a safe without the base according to The Car Seat Lady. Try the Nuna Pipa if you're looking for a compatibility to the 2015 Uppa Baby Vista and easy to instal in taxis.

    Mieke S. - Dec 22, 2015

  • The original Mesa had a European belt path which allowed for a safe, secure installation without the base in most cars anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, the redesign for 2015 saw UPPAbaby remove this safety feature... and the seat is no longer one we recommend for parents who will be taking taxis or going in other cars without the base. https://youtu.be/l_ZvrrRzSw4

    The Car Seat Lady . - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the older Mesa that we bought in 2014 so we had a good experience using it in taxis (except if the cab driver has some sort of seat covers across the whole back seat, which is another story). Be aware that there's a little metal H-shaped bar you can use to get a really snug fit with the safety belt that is tucked inside the Mesa frame. I'm not sure I would bother with this in a taxi though

    Jane U. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We've never tried this in a taxi, however, there is an option to go seatbelt only with no base for this car seat.

    Cathalina L. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We found it relatively easy to use the Mesa in taxis with the seatbelt securing it (without the base). There were a few sweat full moments though in cars from the airport though who seemed to have shorter shoulder straps that were a real struggle to get around the car seat correctly. Not sure if other car seats would have a similar issue. Sent from my iPhone

    Cheryl A. - Dec 22, 2015

  • We have the 2014 model and as others have said, very easy to quickly install in taxis/ubers. For nearly the first year of our son's life, we didn't even own a car, being city dwellers, so this was super important to us.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • I have used it in a taxi(uber) once and it was very easy. im not sure about the safety feature, i felt it was quite secure with the seatbelt and no base. However I would not do that for a long ride without the base

    Secretly Expecting - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: On our local news (SF Bay area) an 11 month old was able to undue her chest harness.... Has anyone had problems with their infants unbuckling the chest harness? There are reports of infants as young as 6 months doing this. UPPAbaby's response to this issue - is that it is "isolated".

asked by Secretly Expecting - Nov 13, 2015

  • My son is now almost 2 years old and pretty smart - and has never even attempted unbuckling his car seat straps - either on the Mesa or on his current seat, the clek foonf. I would think it would be pretty difficult to do if the straps are tight and buckled where they should be.

    Marianna R. - Dec 22, 2015

  • My son started doing it around 11 months and did it with just one finger. He was getting too long for the car seat anyway but it was very easy for him to do and hard for us to prevent when driving.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • When my son was around 11 months it was very easy for him to unclip the chest harness with one finger. Once he figured it out there was really no stopping him and he did it constantly. He was getting too long for it anyway but doesn't seem isolated according to my son.

    Samantha G. - Dec 23, 2015

  • Q: I purchased this car seat since it is one of the more compact infant car seats and I have 2 other kids, but I did not do diligence before about stroller adapters. Does anyone know if this works with the bugaboo bee? I have been able to locate an adapter, but just curious if anyone else might know.

asked by Secretly Expecting - Mar 23, 2014

  • Bugaboo does not make an adapter for this. However, I have a chameleon and it fits perfectly in the graco adapter they make. Of course that's not what it's intended for, so use at your own discretion.
