A true blessing for prenatal comfort. The design provides ample support for belly and back, making sleep more restful. The cover is a bit difficult to clean, but it's a small drawback for the relief Jun 28, 2023

  • Q: I am a back sleeper that needs to transition to a side sleeper now that I am expecting. Im hoping this pillow will help. Does this help to cushion your stomach enough? Is it better just to splurge and get the body pillow or is this enough? I dont want to have a huge space taking pillow in the bed

    asked by Ashley B. - Jan 08, 2017

  • Honestly, my complaint with this pillow was that it DIDN'T support my stomach enough. It was good for hips/thighs but I felt it was too cushy for stomach support. Personally, I would not recommend if that's your specific issue.

    Elizabeth W. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I have found this pillow to be good support for my stomach and my legs. When I began sleeping on my side I would need to switch sides often to stay comfortable, and this pillow is light and easy to move with me as I flip from left to right.

    Kristina K. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I think the primary areas supported by this pillow are my back and hips. I did feel like my stomach was supported, as well, in the sense that it's very soft and lets my bump mold into it. If you're looking for UNDER bump support, it's a bit too fluffy for that.

    Katie K. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I'm almost 35 weeks and definitely love this pillow for baby belly support! It's nice that it doesn't take up so much space in my queen size bed (my husband is built like a lumberjack and I'm 5'7" and due in February with babe #3, so there isn't much room to spare lol). I also like it's shape. Unlike a rectangular body pillow, this has just the right amount of curve. You'll love it!

    Mandi J. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I actually prefer this pillow because it doesn't support the stomach too much, if that makes sense. I need something between my legs to help my hips but I have found that my usual pillow was too thick and caused more pain. This pillow had just enough cushion.

    Justine M. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I would prefer a body pillow. I find myself still rolling to my back while sleeping. It's great for the leg and hip support, but not for keeping you in one place.

    Crystal M. - Jan 09, 2017

  • My regular pillow was too thick for under my stomach. This pillow seems to have the perfect amount of support. I use the tip under my stomach with the larger part between my legs. If you needed more support, you could use it the other way. However, I did use a full body pillow for awhile to get used to side sleeping. That helped because I could lean back and felt almost like I was on my back.

    Jennifer A. - Jan 09, 2017

  • This has provided good support for the sofa for me, but not for sleeping at night. I much prefer a pillow between my legs and my pregnancy wedge pillow. This may be due to my size (4'11" and "all belly").

    Laura K. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I use this pillow mostly between my knees while sleeping on my side. It provides some belly support, but I don't think it's large enough for full belly support. It does help me stay on my side, though. I find it to be super comfy, but if you are looking for that full belly support, I woils

  • I'd say that it supported by tummy enough, but not my hips. I never had a whole body pillow, so I can't compare. A king-sized pillow was also great for me so I could cuddle it and get tummy and hip support (I'm 5'5"). I still find myself waking up in the middle of the night on my back, but the babe is still healthy and crazy active!

    Jessi D. - Jan 09, 2017

  • This particular pillow is a nice size since it doesn't take up the whole bed and is a nice shape for supporting your belly. However, it won't support your knees/ankles as well as a larger pillow would. The pillow is fairly soft too, so it depends on how much support vs. cushion you are looking for.

    Becky E. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I use this pillow mostly between my knees while sleeping on my side. It provides some belly support, but I don't think it's large enough for full belly support. It does help me stay on my side, though. I find it to be super comfy, but if you are looking for full under the belly support, I would get a body pillow! Good luck!!

    mallory D. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I find this pillow supported my bump better then my full body pillow did. It was way too bulky to fit under my stomach but this one fits under and is soft and comfortable and easy to manage during the night when you want to switch sides. My fill body pillow was too bulky and a pain because it too so much space on the bed even with a king size bed!

    Nermina S. - Jan 09, 2017

  • As I get bigger this pillow works less and less for my stomach. I much prefer using it for legs or back support. Love using is while lounging on the couch or reading in bed. I would rather use a full body pillow for sleeping!

    Carly D. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I feel this pillow provides enough support and has helped me tremendously. You can always tuck the pillow further under your bump for more support. The size of the pillow makes it very easy to switch to my other side compared to the full size body pillow.

    Merissa D. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I agree with lots of whats being said! Its great support in the beginning I'm sure, but its awesome for support under certain areas, hips, knees feet, even neck.

    Haley M. - Jan 09, 2017

  • The probably I had with this pillow is that it wasn't long enough to support both my stomach and knees/hips like my full body pillow does. I'm 5'7" so that might have something to do with it, but it just wasn't the right fit for me. I also found it was was too soft to offer much support.

    Jamie H. - Jan 09, 2017

  • If you're trying to switch to being a side sleeper, you might need two pillows (one in front and one in back) to keep you from rolling onto your back. I have a body pillow in front (I find it has more support than this boppy pillow) and use the boppy pillow behind me to keep me from rolling over. It works pretty well in that regard.

    Leela R. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I like how it's fluffy enough that it's not too hard on my belly when I lay on my side. But sometimes I like to lay on my back too, so I place the larger part of the pillow behind me so I am kinda wedged on the side and not really laying flat on my back

    Charlotte H. - Jan 09, 2017

  • A full body pillow was too large and bulky for me to feel comfortable in any position. I am normally a belly sleeper, so to as a new side sleeper I like that this pillow can both fit between my legs and support the belly, without taking over the whole bed. I use the thinner curve to support the belly and the thicker curve goes between my legs (the thicker part was too pouffy for my belly).

    Aubrey S. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I use pillow between knees to keep my hips lined up. I haven't needed support for my stomach so I'm not sure how to answer this question. I am 19 weeks pregnant and don't expect this to change since I didn't really need belly support with my first pregnancy. I am definitely more comfortable when my hips are supported and this pillow provides that for me.

    Julie O. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I honestly think it depends on the person and preference. I have a full body pillow too which I love but this was nice because it doesn't take up a ton of space and still supports belly. Not perfectly because it is soft and won't hold it up but I feel less strain in my back when using it.

    Marya M. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I was a stomach or back sleeper prior to both of my pregnancies. I found that a full body pillow was too bulky in the transition phase. This pillow provided enough support for me when used behind me to get the feeling of sleeping on my back or in front to cradle the bump. I hope the pillow works for you too!

    Anna M. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I am not sure if it is just my body type, but this pillow seems to only support my knees when I use it for that- it doesnt reach much further than my pubic area.. If I use it for belly support it only reaches to the belly area- same with when I use it for my back.

    Kirstin D. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I didn't think it supported my stomach at all, and actually found it cumbersome to flip from side to side with. I like my larger full body pillow much more.

    Abby L. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I think that if you can splurge and buy a body pillow you should. I actually use both my body pillow and this pillow at night. It helps when I turn on each side I have something to support my belly and my back.

    Norma G. - Jan 09, 2017

  • for me it gives the right amount of support when i place it under my belly. i found that this pillow compared to a larger full body pillow is better and less bulky.

    Gloria M. - Jan 09, 2017

  • For me @37 weeks, this pillow gave enough support. You do have to place it where you want the support, though, which may get tiresome when you're tossing and turning. In your case I would probably splurge and buy Boppy's bigger body pillow. Good luck and congratulations.

    Krystin A. - Jan 09, 2017

  • I think it's a great support for the belly until your late third trimester. However, I do think it will support other areas right through until the end. One of the things I liked about this pillow was that it's contoured to the body's shape and is not inteusive in bed.

    Laura B. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I'm already a side sleeper for the most part, so I don't need a pillow to keep me in place, rather, something that offers a little cushioning. I like this pillow for that purpose. but if you need to keep yourself from rolling onto your back you'll probably need a second pillow to wedge behind you.

    Heidi A. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I'm 33 weeks and I'm a back sleeper as well. I found using the pillow as a support behind me to keep me from rolling back onto my back was a huge help!!!

    Jordyn F. - Jan 10, 2017

  • At 27 weeks I feel it gives a good amount of support and in the middle of the night it is easy to switch positions since it's not bulky

    Briana K. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I'm a stomach sleeper, so had to make a similar adjustment. At 21wks I haven't needed the pillow for belly support yet, but based on the size I would say it is better suited for hips & legs. I use a separate pillow for back support on the random nights when I want a bit more. I do really like that it's a manageable size and I don't feel like I have to wrestle with it for positioning in bed.

    Sarah T. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I'm 33 weeks and prior to my pregnancy, I slept mostly on my left side and belly. I used a body pillow before trying the Boppy support pillow and I prefer the Boppy. It takes up less space and it provides comfortable support for my knees, hips and belly. I don't want anything too firm on my belly, though, so while it might not be enough support for some, it's been great for me. Good luck!

    Michelle W. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I agree with many of the comments above that it is better for hips / knees. I use a very thin pillow to support my belly.

    Toni K. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I agree with a lot of the other comments on here. It's great for hips and thighs, it did support my belly and I did enjoy using it. I was a tummy sleeper and it was hard to stop that. Before I got a chance to try the boppy pillow I got a pregnancy pillow the surrounded me on both sides. It supports belly, thighs, hips, and keeps me on my side all night.

    Jamie-Leigh N. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I also agree with a lot of the other comments! I am also a back sleeper, and at 32 weeks pregnant still wake up on my back at times. This pillow is awesome, and I love that it doesn't take up half my bed. However, I think the full body pillow positions you to stay on your side all night, and makes it harder for you to roll back onto your back while sleeping.

    Molly C. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I have this pillow and while it is great for leg and hip support, it isn't great for supporting your tummy. I too am typically a back sleeper and I also have the Boppy wedge pillow and it is small, but GREAT for supporting your stomach. I sleep with both of these pillows and they take up much less room than the huge pregnancy pillow.

    Jessica C. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I am currently 30 weeks pregnant (with my second) and I have found that this pillow supports my stomach well when laying on my side. It's just enough support to feel comfortable and doesn't feel overwhelming. If you are worried specifically about this, you might want to look into the Boppy Wedge!

    Molly M. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I am 28, almost 29 weeks pregnant and I personally prefer the support this pillow provides for my stomach or back (depending on where I have it positioned) over other pregnancy support pillows I like how it isn't too large to easily move around & reposition without a huge production. It also helps to keep my hips aligned so my legs don't fall asleep in the middle of the night.

    Sarah S. - Jan 10, 2017

  • I love this for my stomach more than my back. I have a full body pillow as well (its an older one thats kind of flat so its probably not doing all that it could) but it takes up a huge amount of space. If you don't want something taking up the entire bed and are mainly concerned with one area this is a great option. I also feel like this one could potentially be used as a nursing pillow later.

    Saira G. - Jan 11, 2017

  • Support for my stomach is the thing I enjoyed about this pillow, unless you are looking for something very firm. The boppy pillow is very soft and squishy. My stomach just lays right in to it, which is help for me, but may not be for you. I will say that I also splurged and got one of the big, fully body pillows and don't know how I ever slept without it!
