The quintessential diaper pail, the Diaper Genie is tried and true. It has a foot pedal for hands-free diaper disposal and it’s small it doesn’t take up too much space in the nursery. It also keeps in the smell really well--one mom even admitted she accidently left diapers in it for “way too long” and never smelled a thing.

The Catch: It requires specific liner refills, which are costly.

  • we have this and the Complete. i prefer the complete. we find that sometimes this one gets stuck and is hard to open, the lever to step on has poped out a few times, its an easy fix though Jul 31, 2023

    I started with the smaller version and it filled up so fast so i bought this one & it seems like there’s not that much more space, it still fills very quickly & the price of refills is expensive. Mar 23, 2023

  • I like this product, and we used it a lot, however after awhile it just felt gross and we had to replace. I’m not sure it is worth the price for how short of time it seemed to last. Feb 09, 2023

  • The elite is nice with the carbon filter option. Still doesn’t block for the real stinkers. Haha. Easy to remove diapers. Seems to hold more diapers than the regular one. May 05, 2022

  • I wouldn’t waste your money on this. Just use a trash can or if they are really intense diapers, just throw them outside as soon as you are done changing them. Apr 06, 2022

    We barely used this. Found it easier to just throw dirty diapers in a regular trash can that I take out daily. Would not recommend. Aug 02, 2021

  • Diaper genie is a product that I could live with out. It’s a great product but I found it time consuming and difficult to get the refills for the genie and ended up stop using it all together. Oct 15, 2020

  • This does occasionally become detached when my toddler tries to help put the diapers in it, but once you figure out how to snap it back together it only takes 10 sec. It holds the smell is well! Sep 09, 2020

  • I don't love or hate this. It gets the job done, however after 3 months it definitely began to hold an odour due to the plastic. I've since stopped using it and switched to the Ubbi pail. Mar 12, 2019
