3 Steps to Happy: Stop, Snap and Smile

In preschool language: stop (see you are feeling bad), snap (decide you want to feel good) then smile.

In adult language: if you want to change your state, just change your focus, choose your inner dialogue and change your physiology.

The emotional triad is what our emotional state is made up of. It consists of physiology, focus and language. Physiology, of course, is how we hold our body; slouched or upright, frowning or smiling, etc. Focus is what we are thinking about and language is the words we use in our self talk. Change any one of the three and you can change your emotional state. Physiology is the fastest and easiest to change. Just smile!

We all are responsible for our own feelings. No one else can make us feel something. Nothing can make you feel a certain way. It’s all your choice.

If a parent really utilizes and children internalize the message in the book, it can be life changing. Negative emotions aren’t bad if we use them but if we linger there unnecessarily what good does
that do us? This book empowers children with the knowledge that when they decide they want to, they can change a negative feeling to good in that moment of decision.
