what parents are saying
Had version with vibration. Would knock the baby out when she was slightly tired. (Dec 28, 2016)
As you'll see by how many parents have rated it, the Fisher-Price Rock n Play is pretty much a household staple (and at a price-point that makes it a no-brainer). It folds flat for storage and travel, and parents port it room-to-room, with one mom calling it her "second set of hands." And it is a life-saver for babies with reflux -- or any baby who doesn't like lying flat.

Recommend self rocking version. Must have for newborn sleep. Lightweight, good for travel, easy to clean. My son slept in this next to my bed until he was 4 months old. Easy transition to crib.

We loved our Rock n' Play for when we brought our newborn daughter home from the hospital! It was the perfect place for her to sleep next to us at night and it was super light and portable!

This swing has a great motion to it that puts my little one to sleep for HOURS. When all else fails, this seems to do the trick. She is very content and seems very comfortable. It is also very safe.

The Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play is a great portable sleeping option for a baby! The incline is also quite helpful for a baby with reflux. The only drawback is that babies grow out of it fairly quickly.

I love how convenient and portable this product is. We have a 3 story house and it is so easy to take this item with us to whatever room we are in. My babies have always fit snuggly and securely.

Perfect for nap time! I bring this with me when I am going over a friends house and need something quick to use for a nap! Easy to take out and put away! Rocking and music put my baby right to sleep!

I absolutely love the Fisher price rock n Play. I would easily say it's my number 1 must have "big" baby item! It's easy to move around and the perfect place for babe to nap during the day.

Both of my kiddos have loved being in this. It is super easy to carry around the house, folds up pretty flat so it doesn’t take up much space, and snuggles babies so it makes them feel comfortable

I really like this product for our newborn baby girl. The rocking motion and calming noises help her get to sleep or stay calm. I only let her use it for naps not all night sleeping. I would recommend

My youngest was a preemie and for the first 5 months would only get good sleep in this. The slight incline was perfect for his reflux and the rocking motion kept him asleep. Also travels great!

We have the auto rocking version. Our son did take many naps in this, but I usually had to wait until he was already tired before I could leave him in. He much preferred the mamaroo instead of this.

This is the most convenient baby item we have for our newborn. It's lightweight and folds up easily for travel or moving from room to room. It's a comfortable and safe spot for baby to sleep.

We use this for naps during the day downstairs. Because of the incline and risk for closing his airway I didn't want to use it at night when I wouldn't be watching him. He loves it for going to sleep

My daughter actually loved to sleep in this and we used it in lieu of a pack n play until she learned how to roll over. Compact enough to fit in the trunk of a Hyundai Accent. Easy to wash!

This Rock n Play sleeper has been a LIFESAVER! I don't know how I would survive these first few months being a new mom without this! I tell this to friends and even strangers in the baby section.

I love the conviencence of how easy it is to move around. My little one sleeps so well in her rock and play. And I can put it in the car and take it with us to visit family. Love love love it!!!

My baby liked this however when I used it I wouldn't leave him alone. It makes me nervous of chin to chest and when baby starts wiggling you have to be careful they don't end up upside down. Too risky

The only thing baby would sleep in as a newborn. Saved our sanity. Not great for baby's back/flathead so we transitioned her out at 2 months, but for those first several weeks, this was a lifesaver.

This is what our son slept in for the first 3 months. He was right by our bed. Its great that is so snug for newborns, also gives them the vibrations to help sooth and sleep. Its easy to travel with!

My son slept in this in our room and we never had safety concerns. He was a great sleeper from the start but didn't like a swaddle so this kept him cozy. Helped a ton for his reflux as well.

I would suggest only using this for 2-3 months max. We didn't put our son into his crib until he was 7 months (poor choice on our end) and he had become so dependent on us being there to help him with things that it really contributed to his sleep patterns. I will say that this was amazing though and a huge huge help for any mom/dad! Good luck!
No issues for us either. It was a better sleeping choice for our daughter for awhile due to reflux issues but we set it up in her room with the camera at night so she wouldn't get accustomed to being in our room.
First off, remember that every baby is different! We started putting my daughter down for naps in her crib around 3.5 months, though she still slept in the Rock n Play at night until 4 months. We didn't have any transition problems whatsoever! We did have her do a fair amount of tummy time in the crib though, so she could get "used" to it before we started having her sleep in there.
Sorry, my comment was cut short & I can't figure out how to edit! With our 1st, my daughter had no issues transitioning to the crib from the rock n play. However, with our 2nd, my son struggled w/the transition. He also had a harder time learning to sleep through the night. So those two issues went hand in hand. We used advice found online & he's sleeping in his crib and through the night.
Our daughter was in it at night for 5 months. To help transition her to her crib we would put her in there during the day for naps. Once she was good with sleeping there for longer proofs we put her in her crib. Our son is almost 4 months and we have started the transition for him now. Good luck!!
I asked our pediatrician that question after my daughter had been sleeping in it for a few months. She said it's incredibly rare for something like that to happen. No matter what your baby sleeps on, there is always a slight risk for flat spots, but you can help prevent it by making sure your baby doesn't sleep on the same side of their head all the time (just turn it gently once they're asleep).
My opinion is it could, yes, but the same risk as leaving the baby lying in the same position too long in any bassinet, swing, crib, etc. And i think the current ones have more padding to help prevent it. Hope this helps!
Limit the time in the rocker and you should be ok. My baby would be ok. My baby would be in the rocker for a long stretch but he never had a flat head. But i would certainly not recommend whole night sleep in the rock and play.
Hi! Love love this product - my daughter is almost 8 months old and has had no issue with flat head! She spends a lot of time in it too! Never slept in it for long periods of time, but definitely an hour or two here and there during the day.
Yes!! This is my go-to gift for new parents, and I had two of them, and they were the most important things to get me through 0-6 months! They are perfect for feeding, sleeping, and anything you could imagine early on, and the incline is great for any babies with reflux. Almost no product I'd recommend more highly!
